From the Poultney Historical Society:

The Poultney Historical Society is planning a special 88th East Poultney Day for Saturday, August 12 from 9-3pm. This year’s theme is “Lakes, Mountains, and Summer” and focuses on beautiful Lake St. Catherine.

The Lake Saint Catherine Association board members Jerremy Jones and Frank Callahan will present the work the organization does to preserve the lake’s beauty and share lake memories. PHS board trustee and historian Ennis Duling will present the history of the celebrities who visited the lake over time.

Educators Dale and Joan Prouty will present on 19th century schools. The society’s three historical buildings will be open with new exhibits on the Lake, Green Mountain College memorabilia, and Poultney’s history as a farming community. Former GMC professor Laird Christian will lead a GMC Trivia Game to test those alumni who will be in town for an alumni weekend.

The day’s events include performances by Vermont singer/songwriter Breanna Elaine and the always-popular Hermit Hollow String Band.

The bounce house will keep kids amused and additionally there will be face-painting and kid’s activities from Stone Valley Arts, Poultney Public Library and ReClaimED.

Stewart’s Shops is once again donating ice cream for the Great American Ice Cream Social, and attendees will vote on their favorite.
