Driveway Maintenance and Best Management Practices Workshop

  • 28 Jul 2022
  • 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
  • Online Meeting

Do you have erosion issues with your driveway, or is your driveway allowing runoff into the lake? Do you want to make sure your driveway is lake-friendly?

Please join Andres Torizzo with Watershed Consulting Associates and Hilary Solomon with the Poultney Mettowee Natural Resource Conservation District (PMNRCD) for a "Driveway Maintenance and Best Management Practices Workshop" to explore the water quality ramifications of the many miles of unregulated driveways which are contributing gravel and nutrients to Vermont's surface waters, and to explore methods to mitigate runoff from hydrologically connected driveways.

This workshop will give examples of driveways in the Poultney and Mettowee watersheds with a focus on the Flower Brook watershed in Danby and Pawlet. Andres and Hilary will review two current project designs for steep, eroded driveways that drain into Flower Brook, and attendees will have the opportunity to visit the driveway projects as they are being constructed (or shortly thereafter).

This workshop will take place on July 14th at 10:00 AM via Zoom. The field portion will be held in August for anyone interested.
