On the first really nice weekend of the spring at Lake St. Catherine, our nesting eagles decided they wanted all the attention!
After hearing some commotion at the eagle's nest, and using the max zoom on an iPhone, this image was captured, showing a curious eaglet head popping up from the nest.
Since this photo was taken on Saturday, other lake residents with much better camera equipment have confirmed at least 2 eaglets!

Then, late Sunday evening, this happened:
Yes, that's a swimming eagle.
Just before this, the eagle swooped down to the lake and grabbed on to a large bird (not a loon, but it was hard to tell what type of bird it was). It then tried to fly away with it, but could not take off, so, it swam to shore.
After struggling to get up onto the shoreline, it eventually did, but it could still not take off with its catch, so it decided to start eating.
It tried to fly away with it several more times, eating a bit in between each attempt. It finally gave a few calls, then flew away, at which time its mate flew in to have a bite.
What a weekend for the eagles!
